WRESTLEZONE- LIVE IN FRASERBURGH 2012 WrestleZone returned to Fraserburgh this past Saturday night with an action-packed card at the Dalrymple Hall. Two people who would not make it to the Broch were Sterling Oil’s Richard R. Russell and Andy Andrews, who were granted an appeal for Andrews’ dismissal – occurring on the same night as WrestleZone Live! This made for an all-together brighter event, with the big question being whether Shawn Johnson and Bryan Tucker would be successful in their tag team title defence against the duo of Damien and Aspen Faith. The Hotshots welcome the opportunity to do battle without any outside distractions, but would they have enough to get past their opponents and extend their championship run? Also, after the huge announcement of the handicap rematch set to take place at Halloween Hijinx later this month, what would Crusher Craib’s reaction be as he battled Super Executioner? As anticipation builds for next year’s return of professional wrestling to the Beach Ballroom, what would be the next step on the rocky road to ‘Aberdeen Anarchy’? CYSTO 2 V BRIAN STARR The opening contest would see the ‘Spice of Life’ fill the Dalrymple Hall as the “Tangerine Dream” took on a man looking for respect in WrestleZone, Brian Starr. The ‘Forgotten Son’ would look to build on his recent win over Blue Thunder, and gain a victory over another masked man in the Broch. From the opening minutes, it was clear that Cysto’s unconventional offence was frustrating Starr, who refused to participate in his ‘childish’ games. Eventually, this one turned into a brawl, with Starr beating the living daylights out of Cysto. But no matter what Starr threw at the fan favourite, nothing could keep Cysto down! He came roaring back into the match with the support of the audience, and looked so close to gaining the victory. But just as he looked for the winning move, Starr was able to catch Cysto in the Spinebuster which gained him the three-count and the victory. But that was not enough for Starr, as he looked to humiliate Cysto in front of the Broch fans. But coming to his rescue was Scotty Swift, with the “Red-Haired Warrior’s” issue with Starr still firmly in mind. Starr was in no mood to mess with Scotty, and made a hasty retreat before Scotty could get his hands on his old rival. SCOTTY SWIFT V 'PRETTY BOY' BENJAMIN STEELE Ever-since scoring a pinfall victory in a multi-man match back in May, Steele has gloated over his pinfall win over Swift. But the “Red-Haired Warrior” has made his reputation on being a hardy competitor inside the wrestling ring, and here he would look to teach the ‘Pretty Boy’ a lesson that brawn always wins over looks! With Scotty hyped after fending off Brian Starr, Scotty opened up on Benjamin, and his stylist Krystal Rose looked on in his despair as the Aberdeen favourite carved out the advantage. But for one moment Steele saw an opportunity and took it, and he looked to make his advantage count. But there was one thing Steele did not manage to smother, and that was Scotty’s spirit. Swift came battling back with all guns blazing, and he had Steele on the rack and was looking to pull the trigger! But as Scotty hit the big knockout punch he had searched all match for, Krystal Rose had the referee distracted and he was not in position to count the pin. Scotty was once again distracted and in the ensuing melee, Steele recovered enough to roll-up the fan favourite and grabbing the tights for a cheap win! Steele was very boastful after this one but we all know the truth that Scotty was cheated out of the victory here. But the ‘Pretty Boy’ now boasts two pinfall victories over Swift, and for anyone, that is a huge accolade to have. DAVEY ANNAN V ALAN STERLING Looking to break his losing run was Davey Annan, and in the Broch he was out to stick ‘Adorable’ Alan’s words down his throat! Athletic Annan showed he has all the credentials to be a big time player here as he tossed Alan around the ring with ease. Without his trusted Chief Financial Officer, Richard R. Russell, at ringside, Alan seemed somewhat lost until he was able to gain control. From there, Alan tried to pick-apart Annan, but nothing he could do would put the hearty lion away. And in true animal kingdom style, the jungle warrior came battling back into this one with a roar! But for all Davey’s hard graft, his losing run would continue thanks to a distraction from Mr. Malice. With Alan in trouble, he looked to repeat his dirty cheap shot from Brechin, only this time referee Mikey Innes was wise to his actions. But this was the window Alan has waited for, and a Spear was all it took to give him the victory which will be a delight to all of Sterling Oil. Annan is clearly becoming increasingly-frustrated but his luck will turn, as long as he continues to persevere. CYSTO V 'WONDERFUL' WILLIAM STERLING After a short intermission, we returned with a rematch from our Macduff event where Cysto looked to upset the odds once more against ‘Wonderful’ William. The Sterling Oil member had promised retribution for his defeat last month, but in the opening minutes, it was clearly Cysto who was in the ascendancy. But Cysto could not capitalize on his advantage, and this allowed William the chance back into the match. He took the opportunity, and from that moment on ruthlessly worked over Cysto’s body. But the spirit of the “Tangerine Dream” was clear as he would not bow under pressure. When the time was right, Cysto battled back into the match and had the fans firmly on his side. But there was a sting in the tail here, as William had properly scouted Cysto, avoiding some of his unconventional offence and finishing him off with a Shoulder DDT that gave him the three-count. Retribution for William Sterling but he clearly won’t be so confident at Halloween Hijinx when he steps into the ring once more with Crusher Craib. CRUSHER CRAIB V SUPER EXECUTIONER The ‘Creator of Carnage’ is a man on a mission, and is a step closer to his date with destiny with Richard R. Russell. However, ahead of his Halloween adventure, Crusher would tangle once more with the Super Executioner, with the masked man out for his maiden victory in the WrestleZone. From the off, it was clear Crusher was in a great mood for destruction, and to be honest that is exactly what we got here despite Executioner’s sneaky efforts! In the end, a Black Hole Slam was enough to gain the pinfall, and the whole WrestleZone now looks forward to ONE MORE MATCH when Crusher Craib will look to finally get his hands on Richard R. Russell. TAG TEAM TITLES MATCH: GRANITE CITY HOTSHOTS V DAMIEN & ASPEN FAITH Main event time, and the duo of Aspen Faith and Damien were out to pick up the gold in Fraserburgh. However, the Hotshots have seen off many duos in their summer of success, and they were out to add another victory here. Tucker and Johnson were clearly the fan favourites here, and they showed why they have earned the tag team titles with a great display of wrestling in the early stages. This only served to frustrate their opponents, and this one broke down from there. Eventually, they were able to regain control and isolate Tucker from his corner, and over the course of the next few minutes, the situation got more desperate. And as Faith and Damien looked for the move that would put Bryan away, the champion was able to avoid the contact and tag Shawn Johnson in! From there, the fresh man fired off on both opponents, knocking them across the ring in dazzling style. Johnson came very close to ending it, but eventually the 2-on-1 advantage caught up and it was Faith and Damien in control. But as they looked for the final move, Tucker was able to push his partner out of harm’s way, and they collided, allowing the duo to hit the Hotshot on Aspen Faith that gave them the three-count and another victory. Faith and Damien despaired after this one, but Johnson and Tucker have gelled well as a unit and now head into the winter months as dominant tag team champions. Whoever is next to challenge them has a tough ask to take those titles away from them, and as things stand, the Hotshots are proving that heart and desire does bring success in the wrestling ring. |
