WRESTLEZONE- LIVE IN MACDUFF 2012
15th September 2012- Town Hall, Macduff

WrestleZone’s next step on the road to the Beach Ballroom took us to Macduff for the very first time this past Saturday night for a top night of wrestling action. The main event would see the duo of Damien and Brian Starr look to win the tag team championships from the Granite City Hotshots, while Crusher Craib, Scotty Swift and more would be in action.

To find out what happened when WrestleZone debuted in Banffshire, please read on below.

CYSTO V WILLIAM STERLING

Following on from his tag team title loss the previous night in Keith, William was out to regain respect when he took on the “Tangerine Dream” in the night’s opening contest. These two have tussled before, and Cysto’s unconventional offence once again frustrated William here! Cysto even made fun of William’s ‘brain incubation unit’ – which is a helmet to you and me, using it to wind up the Sterling brother some more!

But the Sterling Oil member had his hired help by his side, and it was through their assistance that he was able to gain a foot-hold into this match. From there, ‘Wonderful’ William tried to beat-out the spirit of Cysto, but that came shining through as there was no chance of submission.

And eventually, the ‘Orange One’ switched the momentum as ‘Wonderful’ William got too over-confident. Still, William had a lot of help by his side, and Richard R. Russell and Andy Andrews tried their best to quell Los Cystos, however, Cysto #1 managed to pin Sterling after Cysto 2 came up to the rinsgide and kissed Sterling, causing the distraction!

CRUSHER CRAIB V ASPEN FAITH

The ‘Creator Of Carnage’ wanted to take-out some more frustration in this one – and it was clear that the ‘Hippie Horror’ wanted nothing to do with Craib! Indeed, Faith tried his best to weasel out of this match, but Crusher was never going to let that happen.

Having been wronged by Andy Andrews at ‘Battle of the Nations’, this was Crusher’s chance to let off steam, primarily on Faith’s chest which suffered from Craib’s frying-pan-like chops on three occasions! When Faith did catch a break, it was a fleeting attack on Crusher’s arm, however the monster was able to recover and hit the Black Hole Slam for the victory.

And from the sound of our fans in Macduff, they clearly want to see Crusher V Russell one day. But given the result of the handicap match last month, that still looks unlikely, but we have a feeling that Crusher is going to continue to hand-out beatings until he gets exactly what he wants!

CYSTO 2 V SUPER EXECUTIONER

In a change to the scheduled bout, Cysto #2 replaced the injured Blue Thunder to take on a grappler still looking for his first win in the WrestleZone. Of late, the Super Executioner has been all talk, but in Macduff, he was out to see-off the “Tangerine Dream” and have his hand raised for the first time.

Given that both men had little time to prepare for this match, it was unclear whether that had any real effect. Cysto always brings the Spice of Life to his matches, and in his own unique style, he was able to show Executioner what it means to be a popular fan favourite. However, Executioner was able to take control and he used all his cheap tricks to try and put the ‘Orange One’ away!

But nothing worked, and spurred on by Cysto #1 at ringside; the “Tangerine Dream” made a move and battled back into the match. With Super Executioner struggling to cope, there was one move that gave Cysto the advantage – a kiss assist that allowed him to roll-up Executioner and gain the three-count! The fans loved that one, and Los Cystos celebrated wildly having had a very good night in Banffshire.

DAVEY ANNAN V ALAN STERLING

‘Adorable’ Alan was out to gain revenge in this one, and pickup Oil’s first win of the weekend. Given Annan’s recent horrible luck since his return from injury, many fans must have wondered whether Macduff would be his turning point?

In the opening stages, the exciting Ellon grappler showed he has all the tools to make a successful career in the WrestleZone. From sound technical wrestling to exhilarating high-flying, Annan really has a style that is unique. But once again, the hired help of Sterling Oil helped Alan carve an advantage here, and it was one he looked to exploit to its fullest.

But say what you will about Annan’s recent performances, one thing that is never in doubt is his heart. That kept him in contention here, and allowed him the opportunity to fire-back at ‘Adorable’ Alan. From there, this was either man’s match but it was the hands of Andy Andrews that gave Sterling the opportunity, and one spear later it was all over. Alan picked up the victory and for Davey, he just can’t seem to catch a break right now.

SCOTTY SWIFT V MR MALICE

Next up was “Red-Haired Warrior” Scotty Swift, and as he marched into Macduff Town Hall, it was clear he had some fun in store for the Rottweiler! Given recent forays into the wrestling ring, Malice would be well-served to ignore the puppy dog chants. But here he managed to find himself frustrated once more as Scotty played fetch the toy, much to the crowd’s pleasure! Scotty even introduced the lead which he put on Malice, and eventually saw him take a tumble into the ringpost!

But Malice recovered enough to gain an avenue back into the match, using his powerful shoulderblocks to his advantage. But Scotty is a spirited competitor, and no matter what Malice threw at him, Swift kept getting up! Eventually Scotty was able to give the fans what they wanted – a Granite City Driver which earned him the one..two…three!

TAG TEAM TITLES: GRANITE CITY HOTSHOTS V DAMIEN & BRIAN STARR

For perhaps the first of many nights, Damien and Brian Starr would unite in an attempt to win the WrestleZone Tag Team Championships. However, Shawn and Bryan were out to build on their win the previous night over Sterling Oil, and lay claim to being the best tag team in the promotion at present.
This one started out hot as Damien and Shawn tussled, with Johnson getting the better of the former Undisputed Champion. And when Starr and Tucker entered the fray, it was Tucker who took control of Starr’s arm! However, eventually the cheap shots came as Damien and Starr looked to double-team Shawn, only for this one to descend into a ringside brawl.

Eventually, Damien and Starr were able to isolate Johnson back in the ring, and things did not look great for the next few minutes. Impact moves kept coming in but Shawn kept kicking out. But as Richard R. Russell gleefully looked on, it seemed just a matter of time before the winning fall would be made and new champions crowned!

But Johnson’s determination was the only thing showing as he was able to counter Damien’s DDT and hit one of his own! Shawn made the tag to Tucker, who came firing in on Starr! After a close near-fall, Starr caught Bryan in his Liontamer, only to be caught by a Shining Wizard kick from Johnson. This allowed Tucker the chance to win with the Twist of Fate, however, the wooziness of the previous punishment led to a delay that allowed Starr to counter into a rollup.

However, with the referee busy trying to break-up the fight between Johnson and Damien, out came Scotty Swift to switch the momentum of the Small Package to see Starr’s shoulders counted down for the one-two-three! Scotty had gained revenge at Starr for causing his loss to Damien the previous night, while justice was restored for the Hotshots! Having seen off two title challenges in two days, both competitors will now head back to singles action in Brechin, where both will be looking to continue their winning momentum from the tag team ranks into individual competition.
