WRESTLEZONE- LIVE IN KEITH 2012 WrestleZone were back in action for the first-time since the big announcement of wrestling’s return to the Aberdeen Beach Ballroom in June next year. The first steps on the road to ‘Aberdeen Anarchy’ would take place in Keith, with a great card of action in store for the Friendly Town’s wrestling fans. In the main event, a huge tag team title rematch would see the Granite City Hotshots defends against the former champions, Sterling Oil. ‘Wonderful’ William and ‘Adorable’ Alan had their sights set on regaining the gold, but champions Shawn and Bryan were out to see-off Richard R. Russell’s men once more. To find out all about what went down last Friday night, please continue below. SCOTTY SWIFT V DAMIEN One of the biggest rivalries in WrestleZone history would be renewed in Keith as Scotty Swift and Damien faced-off once more. There is a lot of animosity between these two, and that was clear from the very start as neither man gave an inch to the other. Damien was able to take control and tried everything to put the “Red-Haired Warrior” away. But Scotty’s spirit could not be dampened, and he came roaring back into this bout with a barrage of offence. Indeed, it looked like Scotty was on his way to victory until Brian Starr appeared at ringside as Richard R. Russell and his men distracted the referee. Starr managed to bait Swift in and dropped his throat across the top-rope, allowing Damien the opportunity to hit the Devil’s DDT for the three-count! This was not the result that the fans had wanted, and the manner in which this went down was sickening. Clearly, the issue between Swift and Starr is not over, and this will aggravate the bad feeling between them. But for the “Enigmatic Icon”, he picked up a huge win ahead of his Undisputed Championship match in Brechin at the end of the month. DAVEY ANNAN V ASPEN FAITH Exciting Ellon grappler Davey Annan was out to end his unfortunate losing run in Keith, however Aspen Faith had a different scheme in mind, and from the start it was clear the ‘Hippie Horror” was out to pinpoint the left arm of Annan. But despite trying hard, Faith just could not put his taller opponent away, and with the heart of a lion, Annan just would not quit. He rallied and had Faith on the ropes, but as he went for a flying crossbody, Faith managed to catch-up with him, and dump him back into the ring! This was the opportunity he had waited for, and the ‘Woodstock Wraith’ managed to hit the Knee Trembler that left Annan laying cold, and gave Faith the victory! The WrestleZone fans voiced their displeasure but the record book will show a victory for Aspen Fatih – and yet another defeat for Davey! Since returning from injury, Annan has had no luck and he seemed understandably frustrated after regaining some of his senses. Annan’s luck will turn if he continues to put in the effort, we are sure of that. BLUE THUNDER V BRIAN STARR Next up was a rematch from our Lossiemouth event, with the ‘Masked Marvel’ out to even the score with the ‘Forgotten Son’. However, Starr’s impact on the event had already been noticed and now he was out to add the exclamation point with victory here. Thunder showed why he has become a popular grappler with the fans, as he got the better of Starr early on. But this only served to frustrate Starr, who resorted to cheap tricks in order to swing the momentum. From there, Starr tried his best to put Thunder away, but no matter what he tried, Thunder kept coming back! Eventually, the Thunder roared and he came flying back into the match. Starr was firmly on the back-foot and it seemed that Thunder was destined to pick-up the victory until Starr caught a break, and put Thunder back in danger. But karma is a strange thing, and Starr’s earlier actions came back to haunt him as we were joined at ringside by Scotty Swift, who caused enough of a distraction for Thunder to roll-up Starr for the victory! CYSTO V BENJAMIN STEELE These two were not alone for this one as Cysto was joined by his tag team partner, while the ‘Pretty Boy’ had his personal stylist Krystal Rose right by his side. The “Tangerine Dream’s” unconventional offence served him well early-on, but Steele recovered enough to take control. With the help of Krystal, Benjamin pounded the ‘Orange One’ relentlessly over the next few minutes. The situation looked grim for Los Cystos as with every passing second, Steele inched closer to victory! But never count Cysto out, and with the help of Cysto #2 on the outside, the masked grappler was able to come battling back into this one. And as soon as Steele looked to be in serious trouble, Krystal Rose tried her best to intervene, only to become embroiled with Cysto #2 who stole her make-up bag! All this happened as Cysto climbed to the top rope looking for the winning move, only to be caught by Benjamin in a Downward Spiral which gave the ‘Pretty Boy’ the three-count and the win – much to the delight of Krystal! CRUSHER CRAIB V SUPER EXECUTIONER Crusher’s first match since the Sterling Oil screwjob at ‘Battle of the Nations’ would see him face-off with the Super Executioner – and in truth, this was the wrong day to be facing the ‘Creator of Carnage’. Despite trying to evade the monster, Executioner here was no match for Crusher as he quickly disposed of him courtesy of his Big Boot! Crusher had a message for Richard R. Russell – the chase is not over! And given his dominant performance here, the fans that want to see Crusher face his former boss are not going to let his one go! TAG TEAM TITLES: GRANITE CITY HOTSHOTS V STERLING OIL So the big rematch was next, and as Richard R. Russell said ahead of this contest, his men were intent on putting their recent dealings with Crusher Craib aside, and concentrate on regaining the tag team titles they lost to the Hotshots in June. A tense and cagey opening here saw Johnson and Tucker use their speed and skill to get the advantage on both ‘Wonderful’ William and ‘Adorable’ Alan but they eventually were able to turn the tide and isolate Shawn from his corner. But Shawn was quick to react, and after minutes of fighting back, he was able to make the tag to Tucker, who rallied on Alan. This one looked like it could be over quickly, only for former WrestleZone official Andy Andrews, now part of Sterling Oil, get involved to distract Tucker, and this allowed Sterling Oil an avenue back into the match. From there, the Sterling brothers isolated Tucker and ensured he got nowhere near making the tag. But Tucker clearly needed to make the tag, and after avoiding the Oil Crash, Bryan managed to sneak-through Oil’s legs and make the important tag to Johnson. The revived Hotshot rallied on ‘Wonderful’ William and Sterling Oil’s hopes were quickly evaporating. As Johnson climbed to the top for the Double Footstomp, he was caught by ‘Wonderful’ William who attempted to Superplex him from the top. That would have been a title-changer, however Johnson managed to fight off his advances, and dump him on the mat, allowing him to hit the Double Footstomp and complete a successful title defence. By winning this contest, the Hotshots have proven they are the top tag team of the moment, a statement that will not sit well with Oil’s Richard R. Russell. Things did not go to plan for Sterling Oil, and they will be praying for another chance of glory sometime in the near future. |
