WRESTLEZONE- LIVE IN NAIRN 2012
28th July 2012- Community & Arts Centre, Nairn

WrestleZone returned to Nairn this past Saturday night, and the big question on everyone’s lips was whether the Granite City Hotshots would see off their first challenge for the tag team titles? The Holryood Blonds, complete with stylist Krystal Rose, were out to bag the titles for themselves and end the Hotshots reign as quickly as it started.

DAVEY ANNAN V DAMIEN

Kicking off the action was Ellon favourite Davey Annan as he looked to rebound from his loss at “Proving Grounds” as he took on the former Undisputed Champion, Damien. The Sterling Oil member was out to make an example of Annan, and make him regret coming back to the WrestleZone.

From the start, it was clear that Annan’s time away from the ring has been to his advantage. He managed to frustrate Damien in the opening stages, and the “Enigmatic Icon” knew he was in for a fight. But with Richard R. Russell at his side, Damien regained control and went to work on Davey.

But although his body took great punishment, there was still fight left in the fan favourite, and he resisted defeat to come roaring back into this bout. From there, this match could have gone either way, but in the end Damien’s experience came into play here as Davey was momentarily distracted, allowing Damien to hit the Devil’s DDT for the three-count and the victory.

SCOTTY SWIFT V BRIAN STARR

The hottest feud of 2012 would start its next chapter in Nairn as Scotty had a chance to avenge his recent misfortune against Starr. Given his lucrative contract, the “Forgotten Son” tried his best here to put-off stepping in the ring with Scotty, but eventually the “Red-Haired Warrior” did his talking with his fists, and gave Starr a beating.

But this one would take an unfortunate turn as Starr was able to pick apart Scotty’s body, subduing the crowd favourite. But no matter what Scotty tried, he could not put away his opponent! Scotty rallied and was able to fire back against Starr, with his opponent scrambling for cover!

But just as it looked like the “Red-Haired Warrior” was to get the victory he has been looking for, Starr was able to bail from the ring. And as the referee kept Scotty from going out after him, Starr was counted-out to hand Scotty the win, but not in the manner he had hoped! Starr had once again avoided the bullet, and even though he picked up the win, Scotty cannot be satisfied with this outcome.

CRUSHER CRAIB V WILLIAM STERLING

Crusher’s road to retribution would continue in Nairn as he took on the next defender of Sterling Oil, ‘Wonderful’ William. And for this one we would have a surprise visitor at ringside, Richard R. Russell! And as the fans chanted that “Crusher’s gonna get you”, Russell reaffirmed that tonight that would not happen!

As the “Creator of Carnage” made his way into the arena, it was clear he had vengeance in mind. With Russell in William’s ear, Craib saw his chance and made a Segway for the Sterling Oil chief. But Mr. Malice was quick to usher Russell away, as he was clearly traumatised with his brush with Craib!
With the distractions out of the way, Craib looked to take-down William in double-quick time. However, ‘Wonderful’ William did manage to get in some offence at Crusher, but that only served to fire-up Craib some more!

And a big boot was all it took for Craib to pick up the victory here and move another step closer to retribution. Richard R. Russell will be getting very worried now, as Craib continues to knock-down the roadblocks on his way to his date with destiny…when he will get his hands on Russell!

CYSTO 2 V SUPER EXECUTIONER

The ‘Spice of Life’ was evident in Nairn as Cysto #2 looked for the victory in his bout with the Super Executioner. This battle of the masked men would see the “Tangerine Dream” get the better of the early stages, only for the Executioner to gain control.

But despite his dominance, Cysto could not be subdued! With the support of the fans, the “Orange One” battled back onto an even footing, and there was no doubt that Executioner struggled to cope with his opponent’s unconventional offence. And in the end it was Cysto who gained the victory to the delight of the fans here!

BLUE THUNDER V ASPEN FAITH

The unbeaten run of Aspen Faith would fall under the microscope once more, as the “Hippie Horror” faced the talents of Blue Thunder. The ‘Masked Marvel’ is forging a following, and his fans were clearly in the house as he looked to end Faith’s undefeated streak.

This opened as a tense battle, with both men exchanging holds with Thunder getting the better of it. This frustrates Faith who turned vicious and went to work on the left arm of the fan favourite. And Thunder’s limb took a real beating here, but Thunder’s spirit was clear as he made a late comeback in this one.

And just as it looked like the momentum had turned, Faith was able to catch Faith in the Altamont Clutch, and after a brief reprieve, he was able to synch the move in leaving Thunder no option but to submit! Faith’s unbeaten run remains in place, but this was a very valiant effort by Thunder.

TAG TEAM TITLES: GRANITE CITY HOTSHOTS V HOLYROOD BLONDS

The gold was on the line as Shawn Johnson and Bryan Tucker entered their first title defence in Nairn. The Blonds, “Pretty Boy” Benjamin Steele and “Gigolo” James Midas, were accompanied by their personal stylist, Krystal Rose, and the trio hoped to wrestle the belts away from the Hotshots here.

Johnson and Tucker had some fun from the off as they ensured Steele and Midas’ ‘good looks’ were given a pasting. But as the Blonds asked for a time-out, the Hotshots pounced and the brawl spilled to the outside! The Hotshots gained the better of the battle, but the interjection of Krystal allowed the Blonds to take control of Tucker.

And as Tucker was isolated from his corner, the titles seemed in grave jeopardy. On one occasion, Tucker was actually able to make-the-tag but once again Krystal was there, distracting the referee to ensure the call was not made! The Blonds needed something big to put Tucker away, but the fan favourite avoided the double-team and was able to make the tag to Johnson, who fired-off on the Blonds.

From there, the Hotshots were in the ascendancy but the match could have gone either way. After taking a tumble to the floor, the Blonds had a two-on-one advantage and looked to put Johnson away, only for there to be a miscommunication that allowed Johnson to score a roll-up on the “Pretty Boy” that gave the Hotshots the victory!

The fans were delighted to see Tucker & Johnson win in Nairn, but even though they were defeated, the Blonds knew they had come so close! There will surely be a next time, and given the impact made by Krystal Rose here, the Hotshots will need to be at their best to continue as the Tag Team Champions.
