WRESTLEZONE- LIVE IN BRECHIN!
15th October 2011- Brechin City Hall

WrestleZone returned to Brechin this past Saturday night with a supreme evening of body-slamming action in store for just over 100 fans who packed the City Hall.

Top-of-the-bill was the return to the WrestleZone of one of Scotland's finest grapplers, BT Gunn, who would square off with the "Golden Touch" James Midas, for the chance to face the Undisputed Champion at Summerhill Showdown in November.

Meanwhile, a mammoth six-man tag team match would see Scotty Swift and Los Cystos look to strike a dent into the Sterling Oil monopoly. To find out about what went down at our most recent event, please read on.

ZACH DYNAMITE VS. JOHNNY LIONS

The opener to this event started in hectic fashion, as Lions jumped Dynamite right from the start and these two began battling around ringside. Eventually, they ended up on the stage with Lions plotting to do some damage to the "Rookie Sensation". However, Dynamite was able to counter and send Lions flying from the stage back into the ring!

Desperation was on the face of the veteran and Lions somehow managed to get back on top. From there he looked to quell the momentum of Dynamite, putting his body through torture in this one.

But Dynamite has learned quickly in the WrestleZone, and he was able to come back into this one with a bang! As he climbed to the top rope to look for the move that would score the biggest win of his career, Lions was able to avoid the contact and capitalized on the mistake with a Lion Driver that gained him the three-count.

This was a valiant effort from Dynamite but Lions' recent run of victories now stretches into double-figures and sooner-or-later, Lions will be out to get another shot at the WrestleZone Undisputed Championship.

BRYAN TUCKER VS. BENJAMIN STEELE

This rematch from our Keith event was granted after continued complaining by Steele following that loss in the Friendly Town. Tucker was out to shut-up the "cry-baby" Steele - but could the cocky upstart take down Tucker in Brechin?

Tucker showed he has all the skills to hang with anyone in the early stages, but after a missed Boom Drop from the top-rope, he seemed to tweak his knee and Steele needed no second invite to go to work on the leg of the fan favourite. As the match continued, Tucker was clearly in a lot of pain as he struggled to battle back to his feet.

But as Steele looked to lock-on his Steele Lock submission, Tucker summoned all his courage to fight off Steele's attempts and he began firing back against Benjamin. Eventually Tucker gained the victory after outsmarting Steele - hitting the Kneelift Neckbreaker for the win! Steele was left complaining once more, but the Brechin crowd were delighted to see Tucker win this one and shut the "cry-baby" up once-and-for-all.

WINNER GETS UNDISPUTED TITLE SHOT AT SUMMERHILL SHOWDOWN: BT GUNN V JAMES MIDAS

Coming back to the WrestleZone was spectacular Scottish wrestler BT Gunn, who was looking to take the first step to adding some WrestleZone gold to his trophy cabinet - however standing in his way was Dundee's own James Midas, and he was out to grasp this opportunity with both hands.

Gunn opened up in great fashion, showing why he is recognised as one of the top grapplers in Europe. However, Midas is a man of dirty tricks, and he had to resort to cheating in order to suppress the Glasgow grappler.

But BT Gunn has not got where he is in wrestling today without knowing how to fight under pressure - and he stormed back into this one and took the audience on one hell of a ride. However, Midas had one trick left up his sleeve, and as he attempted a spectacular superplex, the end looked nigh for Gunn. However, Gunn was able to hit a flying facebuster, and then followed it up with a top-rope codebreaker to gain the pinfall!!!

So we now know that on November 19th at the Summerhill Hotel, BT Gunn will challenge the champion for the WrestleZone Undisputed Championship. If Damien makes it to that event, then many people will be predicting defeat for the "Enigmatic Icon" - while Gunn will be fully-focused on winning his first piece of WrestleZone gold at that big event.

SHAWN JOHNSON VS. CRUSHER CRAIB

This rematch from the biggest event of the summer had the Brechin fans in raptures, as Johnson looked to prove his win in August was no fluke. Meanwhile, Crusher was out to reaffirm his dominance and was determined to ensure that lightning would not strike twice.

This was a war with both men not giving an inch, but giving their all to defeat the other. Johnson's speed and agility were his key assets in rocking the Crusher, but the "Creator of Carnage" looked to use his strength and power to keep Johnson down.

But the fan favourite could not be put away and frustration grew into Crusher's mindset. Eventually, this battle spilled onto the outside, and as both men battled back-and-forth, they both seemed unaware of the referee's count continuing. As Crusher looked to inflict great pain by driving Johnson into the ringpost, Johnson was able to escape and send Crusher to the steel!

As the referee's count neared the 10, Johnson followed up with a stunning shining wizard kick on the outside, and then slithered back into the ring with the referee reaching 10, meaning Johnson picked up another victory over the Crusher, this time by count-out!!! Craib will be distraught about losing again to Johnson, and he will no doubt be out to rectify that in the coming months!!!

BATTLE ROYALE

The stars of the WrestleZone returned for an over-the-top-rope Battle Royale, with the winner getting the all-important bragging rights! Eventually, this whittled down to four with Johnny Lions, Bryan Tucker, James Midas and BT Gunn remaining. Midas and Lions managed to team-up to send Gunn crashing out, while Midas was then double-crossed by Lions as the veteran thought he had it won - but Tucker was still in!

The 2011 Regal Rumble winner rallied against Lions, but eventually found himself on the apron and teetering at the brink. However, he was able to battle back inside the ring but it was to no avail as Lions nailed him with a super clothesline, and followed up with his Lion Driver before disposing of Tucker and winning the Battle Royale. Lions is on an incredible winning streak and sooner or later WrestleZone management will be forced into giving him the title opportunity that he believes he is entitled to.

HANDICAP MATCH: SCOTTY SWIFT & LOS CYSTOS V DAMIEN, STERLING OIL & MR MALICE W/RICHARD R. RUSSELL

This match had been scheduled to be a six-man tag team match, but before the match Scotty made a challenge that would see the winner get a title opportunity at either Sterling Oil or Damien in future events. However Richard R. Russell was keen to get something out of the deal, and Scotty and Los Cystos agreed to Mr. Malice entering the match to make it a 4-on-3 affair.

As you might expect, this was a wild affair with all seven men engaging in a high-powered brawl that saw recent frustrations taken out on each other, with the fans firmly behind Los Cystos and the "Red-Haired Warrior". But Cysto 1 was isolated from his corner and Sterling Oil used their numbers advantage to go to work on the smaller "Orange One", punishing his body with ruthless disregard.

The outlook seemed bleak for Scotty and the Cystos, and the chance to get a title opportunity was slipping out of reach. But somehow, Cysto 1 was able to rally and made the tag, and in came Scotty Swift. From there this match degenerated, with all seven grapplers involved in the action.

As Scotty looked to get the winning pinfall on Alan Sterling, William and Damien came to the save, but the Cystos were not far behind as they brawled with them over ringside. This allowed Scotty the opportunity to hit the Granite City Driver on Alan Sterling and gain the winning pinfall!

The result means that Scotty will now have to find a partner to challenge William and Alan for the tag team titles. The result of this match certainly shakes the foundations of the WrestleZone, as only recently there was speculation that the Sterling Oil monopoly might never be broken. But the Cystos and Swift's perseverance was enough to see them through here, and everyone will be cheering on Scotty to victory in that tag team encounter. The question is who will be his partner when he takes on Sterling Oil for the tag team titles?
